Eyeshadows are fun to wear. They bring out your eye color and the contour and shape of your eyes. However, if used wrong, eyeshadow can give you raccoon eyes, eyes that seem to disappear, clown eyes, and even make you appear cartoonish. 1. Eye primer
Don’t use eyeshadow without first using an eye primer. When you use a primer, you no longer have fading eyeshadow color, eyeshadow in the creases of your eyes, and your eyes stay made up and beautiful. Primer is a liquid or cream-based product that you apply on your eyelids to make eyeshadow and eyeliner last longer and go on smoother. If you don’t have any primer, you can use a thicker consistency of concealer.

2. Compliment your eye color
Use shadows that compliment your eye color. Blue eyes look awesome with peachy or bronze tones, and slate brings out blue colors. Green Eyes look awesome with plum-colored shadows, and rusty shades are awesome. Brown eyes can take just about any shade you want, but Purple hues and golds are flattering. Play up the color of your eyes and make them pop.

3. Brushes
Blending eyeshadow gives you a more dramatic look. Forget the sponge applicators that come with eyeshadows; invest in quality eyeshadow brushes. Use a good makeup brush to blend on eyeshadow and bring your look to the next level. The basic eyeshadow brush is flat and stiff and can be used for all-over color. A blending brush has soft and fluffy bristles, and using an angled eyeshadow brush can give you precision color.
Be sure and keep your brushes clean by washing them in lukewarm water and a drop of baby shampoo. Be sure and dry bushes thoroughly.

4. Note your eye shape
Knowing your eye shape will have a definite effect on how you apply eyeshadow. For example, if you have hooded eyes, use eyeshadow on your lower lashes and outer corners. If your eyes are wide-set, use dark color at the inner corner, and close-set eyes should have darker colors on the outer corners. Experiment with cat eyes and highlights at the center of your lids if you have monolids, and you can get dramatic smokey eyes if you have deep-set eyes.

5. Blending
Blending is the difference between your eyes looking great or you looking like a clown. Don’t smear your eyeshadow, but use a light touch and sweep your brush along your lids.

6. Shimmer shadow
You don’t have to be a youngster to use shimmer eyeshadow! Shimmer eyeshadow is bold, so remember that led is more. Don’t go overboard with shimmery shades, but place the eyeshadow in the center of your lids. Using shimmery shades in the center of your lids highlights your lids and makes your eyes look bigger. Use micellar water to wipe away sparkles that end up on your cheeks or under your eyes.

7. Keep it simple
